Himilo Advocacy Project provided tailored advocacy support for marginalized African adults, addressing their multiple needs and social exclusion. It offered open access services, case management, and interagency collaboration.
Young Mothers in Mind Project – Big Lottery Awards For All program / Hub Africa Cymru
Staff, volunteers, health and Social workers delivered mental health awareness workshops for BME women in order to tackle stigma around mental health issues that new mothers may face such as postnatal depression and stress/anxiety.
Inspire Aspire – BBC Children in need project
This project was implemented as a Parental Educational Engagement programme aimed at getting Somali parents engaging with schools and their children’s education. With the aim of supporting their children through literacy and numeracy development, educational options and study support.
Hygiene and Sanitation project – Waterloo Foundation.
In Somaliland, we are delivering our Hygiene and Sanitation project to improve life for people living in Internally Displaced camps in Hargeisa, Somaliland.
Sports & Drama Activities – People’s Postcode
We are helping young girls develop confidence and resilience by empowering them to engage with sports and drama activities as a means to promote physical health, as well as encourage the tackling of taboo issues through conversation/art.
Mental Health Improvement Provision – Hub Africa Cymru
This was a 2 year project, in which we conducted Capacity building exchange visits with our partner in Somaliland. We sent health and social care professionals to Somaliland who delivered health awareness capacity building training for Mental Health Workers in Hargeisa Hospital and other health and outreach workers. In addition we also delivered Stop Stigma in Mental Health awareness events both in Cardiff and Somaliland.
Maternal Health Education Project – Wales for Africa Community Link
We delivered maternal health education workshops and trained staff from the Maternal health department Hargeisa Hospital with life saving skills during difficult/complicated labor, An experienced midwife from Cardiff and Vale Health Service travelled with us to deliver the training funded by WCVA.
BME women’s writing project – Big Lottery Awards for All program
We delivered a BME women’s writing project in partnership with Butetown History and Arts Centre. The workshop leaders were students from Cardiff University.
Health and Wellbeing Awareness Project – Cardiff County Council through Deprived areas Neighbourhood Grant.
Delivered in partnership with Cardiff Mind, Cardiff and Vale Mental Health project to raise awareness of mental health issues and the mental health act.
Umbrella Programme – Cardiff Library
Delivered the in collaboration with Cardiff library and other local community organisations. The programme engaged and supported the Refugee community to tell their story, in celebration of Refugee Week.
